Quantum-dot based NIR/SWIR Image sensor +강의담기

Image sensors are being used in a wide range of applications from consumer electronics to automotive industries. While Silicon has dominated the market by now, thin-film materials are a promising alternative for the NIR/SWIR imaging as they have higher absorption coefficient in this spectrum while can be monolithically integrated directly on top of a Silicon read-out IC (ROIC) wafer. Such an integration allows to manufacture high resolution infrared image sensors at lower cost compared to the resolution-limited III-V based sensors.
Imec successfully demonstrated image sensor operating at 940 and 1450nm wavelength by using quantum dot material for light absorption. This is done by processing back-end-of-line interconnections and thin-film quantum dot photodiode on top of Silicon ROIC wafer in imec’s 200mm fab. Target wavelength can be tuned between 900 and 2000nm by changing quantum dot size.
In this talk, state of the art research results will be presented together with various potential applications of the camera adopting QD image sensors
