The Biomimetic science consists in understanding some natural behaviours and to reproduce their functioning. The main issue of the bionic research is to find the most adapted technology imitating a nature behaviour. Among the different kind of bionic robots, a class of the continuum robots characterized by a constant curvature are often used to describe a biological elephant trunk. Determination of forward and inverse kinematics of such robots is always difficult, since these robots are characterize by infinite degrees of freedom. An accurate dynamic model of these class of robots can help in developing satisfactory model based control scheme. The talk will discuss forward and inverse kinematics of bionic manipulators.
