    Advanced robotic and complex systems such as humanoids are soon to follow the current autonomous cars and aircraft of today. The systems will replace human workers in various fields. The presenter wants to help shape this future by applying inter-interdisciplinary technologies and by implementing collaborative researches. As such, the presenter’s research goal is to develop autonomous robot systems which can assist and replace human labors for various tasks in laborious (industries) and dangerous (disasters) areas. Vehicle driving is one of the important human-assistive tasks which humanoids should learn and execute. There is merit and broader impacts if humanoids can drive off-the-shelf unmodified cars for human labors in warehouses and factories. To accomplish the goal, the presenter is pursuing several research projects and will introduce some of them in the seminar.

    This lecture gives an introduction to neurorobotics and highlights future developments in neurorobotic technology. Participants will learn about the huge diversity of neurorobotic research which ranges from early simple models of robot control which are based on only a few neurons to the state-of-the-art closed-loop integration of large-scale brain simulations with detailed models of physical bodies. Based on this overview, the lecture highlights the open challenges in neurorobotics research how they will be addressed in the future development of the Neurorobotics Platform of the Human Brain Project.

     Geometry is a useful tool to analyze algorithms. Although the information geometry has also produced good results by combining with statistics.
     In this talk, I introduce some ideas for learning theory based on the elementary geometry applied to analyses of adaptive filters and support vector machines.

    Knowledge-based systems are typically constrained by their ability to acquire new knowledge without the intercession of a technical knowledge engineer. This introduces a fundamental disconnect between the system and the domain expert - even if a knowledge acquisition interface is provided, the domain expert is usually highly constrained in their expressiveness and ability to train the system due to technology-specific implementation.
